I&E Mechanic

IES is looking for an Instrumentation & Electrical Mechanic to join our team!  Under the general supervision of the I&E Team Lead, the I&E Mechanic role involves maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and automation systems as well as installing, testing and commissioning new equipment.  The successful candidate embraces positive change and is committed to help further advance our safety and reliability culture at Island Energy Services.  Desired competencies include: proven Electrical or Instrumentation skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.  Ideal candidate must be able to establish priorities under tight deadlines and have a proven track record as a motivated, self-starter who can work on multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced environment.  Incumbent is expected to have sound knowledge of electrical systems and hazards.  Prior relevant experience in refinery, manufacturing industries are preferred.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  1. High School diploma or equivalent
  2. Minimum five years of industrial or relevant trade (Electrical or Instrumentation) or fueling and fuel storage facilities experience.

Desired Experience

  • Journeyman Electrical or Contractor License

  • Pass background check including periodic job-related physical abilities testing as required.
  • This is a safety sensitive position and random drug testing is required.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean abstract to operate a motor vehicle in the United States.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including: full body coveralls, protective footwear, hard hats, hearing protection, eye protection, etc.
  • Ability to wear all types of respirators.
  • Must be able to work overtime, holidays, nights, and weekends.
  • Willingness to devote the time as needed to meet packet and task deadlines.
  • Willingness to maintain or increase skills.

Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities Include but not limited to:

  • Install, calibrate, test, troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation on new or existing plant equipment
  • Consult manufacturers’ manuals to determine test and maintenance procedures. Use pneumatic, electrical and electronic testing devices to inspect and test instrument and system operation, and diagnose faults
  • Consult with and advise process operators
  • Complete maintenance I&E training program
  • Repair, maintain and adjust system components or remove and replace defective parts
  • Do risk assessments
  • Calibrate and maintain components and instruments according to manufacturers’ specifications
  • Isolate electrical 2.4KV / 480V equipment for maintenance work.

Other Duties:

  • Proactively updates and maintains operating standards, emergency procedures and any other documents as needed.
  • Performs a variety of special assignments as needed within the scope of the position.
  • Teamwork – Works effectively with coworkers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive, positive manner; listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from others; keeping commitments; keeping others informed of work progress and issues; addressing problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical solutions; and respecting the diversity of the IES workforce in actions, words, and deeds.
  • Maintains commitment to a high standard of safety, comply with all safety laws and IES safety policies/rules and report actual and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel to further IES core value of safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation

Island Energy Services offers a competitive salary that commensurate with qualifications and experience. IES also offers a generous benefits package to include comprehensive health and welfare benefits, vacation, sick leave, 401k plus employer matching, supplemental voluntary insurance options, etc. This is a negotiated union position, and the starting hourly pay rate is $40.01/hour. The position may progress through on the job training to the position of I&E Mechanic level.
